ABANDONED WOODEN VILLA: A NEW LIFE

DUOPUU designed a new life for an abandoned villa made of 100% wood and never finished. The greenest building is the one that already exists; this is even more true if the starting point is a house already built in timber. Selected portions of main bearing elements, both horizontal and vertical, have been analyzed to define the entity of mechanisms of wood degradation in the CLT panels and design specific intervention methods. The project's goal was to not demolish the villa and not re-build a new one, demonstrating a new scale of circularity both in the impact of the building construction and the re-used materials and minimizing the new ones / Client: private / Total surface: 300 sqm / Status: finished.

LIGHTWEIGHT INSTALLATIONS FOR A MOUNTAIN ROUTE

DUOPUU is providing technical consultancy for the executive design of the experiential and interactive installations designed by Dotdotdot for a mountain route capable of interacting with the landscape and nature of Vallecamonica – this Alpine region is a World Heritage Site (1979) and a Biosphere Reserve (2018). Lightweight timber structures, high levels of prefabrication, minimal use of concrete, and assembly-disassembly construction methods have been included in the design process to minimize the impact of the installations while respecting the natural environment. Design: Dotdotdot / Status: on-going / Graphics by Dotdotdot.

A NEW DECARBONIZED EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOP

DUOPUU is providing the technical consultancy for the executive design of a new net-zero emission small educational workshop designed by Atelier delle Verdure – architecture & landscape studio. The new building entirely made out of CLT structural panels will be almost-100% natural, renewable, recyclable and reusable. The architectural components will be based on certified low embodied carbon materials: cork and wood fibers for the insulate panels and prefabricated cross laminated timber panels for the structures. Moreover, the project is working on ensuring a minimum environmental impact for the construction phases and for the entire lifespan of the building / Concept and design: Atelier delle Verdure / Co-design and works management: DUOPUU / Client: private / Status: on-going / Render by Atelier delle Verdure.
